Following continued lobbying by the Parish Council, and a one-to-one meeting between the Chairman and the Head of Environmental Services at City of York Council, there is now an acceptance by CYC that the B1224 is a specific issue, as it is, in the main, their vehicles that are responsible for much of litter.
City of York Council has committed to pick litter every 6 weeks, with a promise to respond to situations, where it is bad in the intervening period, as indicated by the Parish Council who would make a proportional judgment. This represents a significant improvement from the previous arrangement.
The Parish Council would also like to recognise the efforts of residents in individual lobbying of CYC on the issue, and to express our thanks to the volunteers who assisted with organised litter picking within the safe areas of the village boundaries.

The Parish Council has formally requested a meeting with City of York Council and Yorwaste to attempt to find a long-term solution to litter picking along the B1224.
In the meantime, we are delighted to share that City of York Council have had a major litter pick on 29th Feb and 1st March. The PC will continue to monitor and feedback to CYC.
We will keep residents informed.
